If you are contacting us about getting Emergency Contraception (EC), there are a few things we want to let you know up front.
1. The EC we are able to give out is similar to Plan B. It is effective up to 3 days (72 hours) after unprotected sex. If it has been longer than 3 days, this EC will not work to prevent pregnancy. If that is the case for you, please contact us ASAP at 412-434-8971 (8:30-4:30 M-F or 8-3 Sat) or 412-254-8733 to get information on another type of EC that can be effective up to 5 days after unprotected sex, but which is only available with a prescription.
2. The EC we are able to give out is only effective for people weighing less than 175lbs. If the person who is taking the EC weighs more than 175lbs, it will likely not be effective. If that is the case for you, please contact us ASAP at 412-434-8971 (8:30-4:30 M-F or 8-3 Sat) or 412-254-8733 to get information on another type of EC that can be effective for people who weigh more, but which is only available with a prescription.
3. If it is possible for us to contact you by phone, please provide us a phone number where we can reach you between the hours of 10am-5pm, Monday-Friday. This is the best way for us to talk you through the process and to ensure we are providing the best care possible. If it is absolutely not possible to provide a phone number, please provide us with the best email to reach you, and please check your email for a reply, usually within 1 hour of submitting the form. Please check your spam folder as well if you don't see our response.
